Planning to pop the question in Florence?

Planning to propose in one of the most romantic cities in the world, like Florence? Here's how I helped a client pull off a surprise proposal near San Miniato al Monte and captured unforgettable memories.

The Plan: Creating the Perfect Surprise

When my client reached out, he wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise. Here’s how we made it work:

1. Choosing the Right Location

After discussing the pros and cons of various locations in Florence, we landed on one of my favourites. San Miniato al Monte is a hidden gem in Florence. Perched atop a hill, it offers breathtaking views of the city. Its serene atmosphere makes it perfect for a private, romantic proposal. It’s less crowded than Piazza Michelangelo, ensuring a more intimate moment.

2. The Disguise

To avoid suspicion, I pretended to be a tourist taking random photos. This approach kept the moment a complete surprise.

3. Capturing the Proposal

As he got down on one knee, I discreetly snapped away. Her reaction was pure joy, and I made sure to stay invisible until after the moment.

Keeping it Private - Proposals are deeply personal. After the "Yes!", I stepped away to give them a moment to savor their happiness. This break also helped them feel comfortable before starting the engagement shoot together. I think one of the hardest parts for me while shooting is keeping my emotions out of it. It’s impossible not to feel the love and excitement during these incredible moments.

Turning a Proposal into a Full Photoshoot

After introductions, we walked around the area for a mini engagement session. The morning light added a certain magic to the photos. They loved how natural the experience felt—no stiff poses. I guide my clients into the perfect spot, then encourage them to move naturally and make the poses their own.

Why a Surprise Proposal Photoshoot Matters

- Authentic Moments: These photos capture raw emotion—there’s no recreating that first moment after the proposal.

- Lasting Memories: You'll have beautiful, artistic photos to share with loved ones (or keep just for yourselves).

- Stress-Free Planning: Hiring a professional ensures that everything is documented without you worrying about logistics.

Tips for Planning Your Proposal Photoshoot in Florence

  • Hire a Local Photographer

A local expert knows the best spots and can navigate crowds for intimate moments.

  • Choose the Right Time

Early morning or sunset provides stunning light and early morning offers fewer tourists.

  • Communicate Clearly

Share your vision with your photographer. The more details they know, the better they can help you execute your plan.

  • Trust the Process

A professional photographer will guide you through the shoot, ensuring you look and feel your best.

In Conclusion

Planning a surprise proposal is no small feat, but with the right photographer and a magical location, it’s an experience you’ll cherish forever. Florence offers a perfect backdrop for love stories, and capturing these moments is always an honor.
